When I drunkenly bid on and won the auction for my 2007 Dodge Ram I found out the driver’s seatbelt was cut when I picked the truck, of course Chrysler no longer makes them, and of course it is a 2 year only part for only regular c
ab Ram 1500s. So after weeks of searching I finally found one in Texas from a low mileage truck that hadn’t been wrecked or flooded (Tree fell on the bed) So I get the part here and after a painful remove and replace (Torx Bolts are straight from the depths of hell). I find out why the the seatbelt was cut to begin
with, the latch receiver
is Jammed! Well Shit, off to scour the junkyards again.

Of all the things in the automotive world, I’d have thought that seat belts & tensioner assemblies would be like a “all of our cars” kinda shared OEM part. Huh.

Order a latch of course, it should not be this hard.

Chrysler has traditionally been so cheap that they used the same part on as many makes and models as possibles and for many years imagine my surprise when I found out the 07-08 r
egular
cabs had an all new setup that apparently caused problems so they changed it.
